I (and the audience) survived my talk today. As our mutual reward, I offer my slides. All the links turned white onupload, so they are nearly impossible to read. I am sharing it now because you can at least hover over them or follow them, otherwise you might have to wait until I am home next week.
I provided my own caption file for the video. After watching this again, I missed an opportunity to edit out all of my jokes that fell flat (all of my jokes).
You can see all the other talks in the YouTube channel for YGLF 2019 Vilnius. They were all quite good. Give them a watch if you can.
Resources
In addition the slides, I mentioned some other resources during the post-talk hallway Q&A:
This talk just seriously made me think about accessibility on docs @docusaurus
Waiting for slides + videos so I can spam everyone I work with
Not going to lie, @aardrian's #a11y talk at #YGLF19 has already made me tear up. Accessibility and inclusion for tech is SO important and SO necessary and we in the XR space need to be way more aware of our responsibilities here.
"Our comfort level with technology protects us" – YEP. True on many levels, thinking about this applied to VR especially. I find myself forgetting how weird it actually is to put an HMD on for the first time.
I learned that websites should only have one <h1> tag, that stylized urls can be hard to differentiate from other, and that I should go revisit my personal sites for other areas pf improvements.
Who said #a11y isn't selfish. Not @aardrian! With "Selfish Accessibility" talk proving the point @yglf_lt that caring for #accessibility is caring for yourself. Either "current you" or "future you". Take care of accessibility in the #web and you will take care of yourself! ♿️😎 pic.twitter.com/GkRrIU3dva
